Our Story
Where It All Began
Luis and Carmen Salazar started their restaurant 15 years ago as a labor of love for their community – to offer true Mexican cuisine and delicious non-Mexican meals. This family-owned and operated establishment prides itself on being a place where fine-dining meets friendly, personable service.
Don Luis Owner, Luis, brought from Mexico his passion for cooking and his family’s authentic recipes. Every meal is made from scratch and Luis rises at dawn to hand-craft all of their special sauces, marinate meats and prepare fresh veggies. Each dish is made fresh to order with love. Longtime customers return for the flavorful fare and the attentive service that the staff provides.

Remembering Chef Luis
Luis was born Aug. 19, 1954, in San Martin De Bolanos Jalisco, Mexico, to Odulio and Victoria Salazar. When Luis was 15, he decided to come to the United States by himself. He worked his way through the California fields until he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where his passion for cooking took hold. Luis had many ups and downs in the restaurant business, but his determination and strong work ethic enabled him to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant and making people happy with his special creations. Don Luis restaurant was one of his biggest joys in life, as well as the dance floor downstairs in his building, where he could hold Mexican dance parties and dance the night away with his wife and daughters. He loved to host parties for everyone that he knew and always made sure everyone was having a good time. Luis always had an open seat at his Thanksgiving Day feasts, where everyone was welcome.
